CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Edenway proposes to sustainably transform the linearities of a city into return actions (circular innovation) thanks to the interconnection of material flows and information and knowledge flows:

Detection of opportunities for circular innovation in a territory

Experimentation: coordination of pilot projects to connect resources

Development and funding research of programs

Implementation of awareness programs and cultural change around resources

Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA)

Promotion of green and circular economy strategies

SUCCES STORIES

Promotion of green and circular economy strategies

The economic development agency of the city of Barcelona: Barcelona Activa.

The dynamization of an industrial park of the city, located in a declining neighborhood, and facing a desertification of its available warehouses.

Edenway carried out a benchmark study on eco-parks or other industrial areas which could provide replicable good practices examples. A study of the situation was achieved, in collaboration with the officers of Barcelona Activa, as well as a co-creation session in which all possible actions were proposed. Edenway later synthesized this information into a strategic plan.

A 3-year road map, which details and quantifies an action program to be carried out in 4 different magnitudes:

– A catalog of services for the industrial park companies.
– The collaboration between companies and the different actors of the park.
– Green and circular economy support.
– The dynamization of empty warehouses.

The program will be applied in the 2017-2020 period.

WAVES 2.0 (Waste adding value to empower our society)

Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council

The municipality of Sant Cugat del Vallès is a pioneer in the implementation of circular economy strategies, both in residential and industrial fields. For this occasion, the City Council wanted to frame this initiative in the framework of a project funded by the European Commission’s, H2020 program.

Edenway executed the strategic analysis and partner search for innovative projects of circular economy at a European level. Additionally, the coordination of consortiums as well as the definition of the participation strategy of the City Council in the project WAVES 2.0:

– Preparation for reuse
– Composting of urban gardens
– Control of the quantity and quality of recaptured resources
– Development of an application to promote communication
– Support of entrepreneurs to develop innovative and more efficient technologies, and forms of production and consumption.

A consortium between different European cities (Ljubljana, Valencia, Sant Cugat del Vallès, and Mafra) and private companies (Snaga, ISQ, LAS NAVES, MOBA Automation, ARC, and UrbanDNA) has been assembled. In addition to managing the overall coordination of the proposal, Edenway also joined the consortium.
